We adopted Max two years ago today. He’s such a good dog and he’s a great traveling companion. We tend to be just a bit silly over him!

Entrance to Rails-to-Trails, Quitaque Depot, Texas Panhandle.

We’re in Quitaque, TX the little town just outside of Caprock Canyons State Park. It’s a speck on the map with a Post Office, farm and ranch supply and a little barbecue shack. The name is thought to be based on a Native American word meaning “the end of the trail”, but that origin is uncertain. It’s pronounced kitty-KWAY.

This group of tom turkeys decided to put on a show for us. They weren’t the least afraid and walked right up to our camp site. They gobbled and strutted. And attracted quite a crowd. However, no hens turned up.

A storm blew these pretty seeds out of what I think is an elm tree. Delicate little seeds prepared to be dispersed by the wind.
I love driving along the backroads of Texas.

I had a really fun knitting project planned…

but Max had other ideas.

Oh Max! ❤️

“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.” ~ Emerson

I took this photo at the nursery and it really appeals to me.
Our local nursery is getting ready for spring planting. Spotted this pretty, lone bloom.
