I would call this a statement travel trailer.

I would call this a statement travel trailer.

This scene unfolded in Margaret and Jon’s backyard:

“There’s a storm across the valley, clouds are rollin’ in
The afternoon is heavy on your shoulders” – John Denver
In this case the storm was across the mesa not the valley.
This isn’t the most beautiful photo – it’s a box of roasted New Mexico green chili.

We’re spending a few days in Albuquerque enjoying some time with our friends Jon and Margaret. I was lucky enough to be invited to help them peel green chili. It’s a New Mexico autumn ritual.

The goal is to peel off the charred skins, remove stems and seeds. Jon set up a work station on the patio; box of chilis, fresh trash bag, pails of fresh water, a big bowl for the peeled chilis. We sat looking out over the mesa, peeling chilis and talking. We watched a rain storm roll in. When we were finished we had several bags of chilis for the freezer.
It was a fun and memorable afternoon with my friends.
I thought I had exhausted my Farmers Market enthusiasm, but I have one more photo: Radishes.

Max has found that sitting on the dashboard of the RV affords him the best view of everything. And of course we furthered his plan by giving him a dashboard dog bed.

**He’s only allowed to sit there when we’re parked!
The detail that our phone cameras can capture is pretty amazing. These photos were all taken just out the front door of our RV at our camping spot north of Durango, CO.
Close up of a tree trunk…
Tree moss…

Lichen…

We love the Durango Farmers Market, especially in September. So much beautiful produce!

This is how much I can knit in the 935 miles from our house to our campground in Durango:
I cast on the first sock just after we pulled out of our driveway. I was hoping to finish the pair before arriving in Durango. Apparently I needed another 300 miles or so!
At our campground in Santa Fe I saw several of these eggs in birdcages hanging in trees and on fences. The ones I saw were off the beaten path and sort of hidden. The eggs were all painted differently, though they were all black and white. Not sure of the significance…
Also saw many Fall Asters.

We spent last night in the Lubbock KOA on our way to Santa Fe NM and then onto Durango CO. It’s pretty hard to find anything interesting or pretty at the Lubbock KOA but someone there has a green-thumb.
So I did find these pretty, morning blooms.
