Four years ago today, December 21, 2014,  my brother Ronnie died. It was a terrible blow for our family. Because his death fell so close to Christmas I marked our loss on the Tree Skirt.

I added a small silver angel beside Ronnie’s name. I used the same signifier for my Grandmother, my Father-in-Law, and our very kind Brother-in-Law.

The Christmas Tree Skirt which once felt very joyful to me now feels less so.

Hark, now hear the sailors cry
Smell the sea and feel the sky
Let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic

~ Van Morrison

  1. I have been teary and sad since 4:00 this morning. Plainly you have lived this day similarly. Thank you darling for marking Ronnie on the Christmas Tree skirt with a silver angel. We miss him greatly, but at the same time celebrate having had him.

I hope your joy will return over the work of meaningful beauty you have created on this skirt. You have made a wonderful tribute for those you love and have gone on before us.

God has blessed you in very special ways. I thank God for YOU.

I love you more than you can imagine. Mom

  2. The picture of Ronnie and the poem touch me deeply. I am seeing this on the iPad much better than the phone.

I wonder how you find poetry that goes to the spirit of your art and thoughts? Mom

  3. Angela, would you make a copy of Ron’s picture for me please? His face is clearly seen and that means so much to me. Thank you my darling. Mom
